At the 2024 Leadership Summit held in September at the Hotel Samoa, the ARA AgrĂcola team was awarded first place in the Acelera contest with an innovative project focused on employee well-being and quality of life. Comprising Emanuela Pereira (Farm Team), Lucas AntĂ´nio (Farm Team), Wiris Carla (Field Leader), Janyne Miranda (Operations Team) and mentor Paulo França, the team developed a solution to optimize the bus departure schedule at the Terra do Sol Farm, giving employees more time to spend with their families at the end of the day.
The Project: Enhancing Quality of Life at the End of the Day The project was born from observing the excessive time spent on internal farm transport after work hours, which often delayed employees’ arrival at home. With a focus on streamlining this process, the objective was to reduce bus departure times by at least 10 minutes, with no additional costs, using route and process improvements.
Key Actions Implemented:
- Analysis and Adjustment of Internal Routes: The team mapped and optimized bus routes, eliminating unnecessary stops and adjusting paths to minimize travel time.
- Redistribution of Boarding Points: The reduction and reorganization of boarding points prevented close stops and accelerated the process, without compromising employees’ access to transport.
- Alignment with Drivers: Meetings with drivers ensured all were aligned with the new boarding points and times, making transport more efficient and punctual.
Results: Simple Adjustments, Big Benefits Following implementation, the bus departure time was reduced by 11 minutes, moving from 5:30 p.m. to 5:19 p.m., positively impacting employees’ routines. Now they have more family time and a less stressful end to their day. An internal survey showed a significant increase in employee satisfaction with the new schedule, highlighting the importance of this change.
Initiatives like this prove that small actions can yield great results. The success of this project reaffirms ARA AgrĂcola’s commitment to caring for the well-being of its team and pursuing continuous improvements in the work environment.
